Finding the right therapist is an important part of personal growth and healing.
“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.”- Carl Jung
Many people don’t realise it, but finding the right therapist (i.e psychologist, social worker or counsellor) is like finding the right doctor. Once you find someone who understands your needs, and makes you feel assured then this is someone who you will see on/off for years to come about a range of issues. The research shows us that what we call the therapeutic alliance plays a large role in your growth during this process.
That is why we offer a 15-minute free phone consultation to ensure that before we even begin we can get an idea of each other’s needs. Because at Savasana Collective, we aim to empower you with tools that will heal and grow.
At Savasana Collective - Holistic Psychology, Social Work and Coaching, we understand that living with ADHD can be challenging. It can affect your ability to focus, organize, and complete tasks, leading to difficulties in school, work, and personal relationships. We are here to provide you with effective therapy options that can help you manage your ADHD symptoms and achieve a fulfilling life.
Our Approach
We take a personalized approach to therapy, recognizing that everyone's experience with ADHD is unique. Our licensed therapists are trained to provide evidence-based interventions tailored to your individual needs. Whether you are an adult recently diagnosed with ADHD or feel like you have a lot of the traits - we can support you whatever stage you are at.
Treatment Options
At Savasana Collective, we offer various evidence-based therapies for ADHD, we focus on using models such as the biopsychosocial-spritual model, neuropsychotherapy, trauma informed practice and the window of tolerance to help guide our treatment. Our therapists can work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that fits your goals and preferences.
We understand that medication is a common treatment option for ADHD however, we also recognize that not everyone may want to take medication. That's why we offer therapy options that can help manage symptoms without medication, or in conjunction with medication if that is your preference. Our therapists can work with you to discuss the benefits and risks of medication and help you make informed decisions.
Our Recommended Resources
We recommend two books for further reading on ADHD:
"Scattered Minds" by Gabor Mate: This book explores the impact of ADHD on adults and offers practical advice on managing symptoms.
"Stolen Focus" by Johann Hari: This book provides a comprehensive overview of ADHD, its treatment options, and the societal factors that contribute to its prevalence.
Society and Trauma Factors
It's important to note that society and trauma can also contribute to ADHD symptoms. According to Queensland Health, children who experience trauma, such as abuse or neglect, are at higher risk of developing ADHD because a traumatised brain can replicate ADHD symptoms. Furthermore, research from the Mayo Clinic shows that societal factors such as poverty and lack of access to healthcare can also increase the likelihood of ADHD. At Savasana Collective, our therapists are trained to recognize the impact of these factors on ADHD symptoms and can provide support and interventions to address them.

We use our Four R Method (tm)
Our Signature Method is the Four R Method that we use in our one one sessions, our retreats, our courses and is the format for our podcast.
Reflect - how is life in the current moment? What behaviours, experiences and relationships got me here?
Redefine - What needs to change. For me personally, with my values and ideas, what does a happy, joyful and successful life look like for me?
Redesign - Now that I have an idea of what has held me back, what can I put in place to create the life that I want, that is aligned to my purpose?
Realign - Staying on track. Knowing what my habits and behaviours are, how can I stay on track?
Therapy Styles used by our Clinicians- because not one approach works with everyone, for every issue.
Biopsychosocial-spiritual model of health to get a holistic view of the whole person that includes biological aspects and social aspects.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - shown to be highly effective in mood issues such as depression and anxiety where negative thought patterns take hold and create poor habits and behaviors.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Values work - shown to be useful in anxiety, depression, and mood issues by learning to live an aligned life and learning to allow and let go of thoughts, rather than having an internal battle.
Neuropsychotherapy - Therapy based on neuroscience and neuroplasticity. Every thought, every action, and every movement creates a new reaction in the brain. Neuropsychotherapy takes what we know about brain science and mood issues and helps us to understand what parts are working for and against us- and how to strengthen and weaken these parts with simple exercises.
Expressive therapies - Helpful in many issues including mood issues and grief and loss. Uses mediums such as art, sand, visualisations, music, etc. to bring out unconscious thoughts and processes to the surface.
